Aldon Tibbs – Trainer

When I was 21 I was playing in a band called Clair de Lune. I didn’t see becoming anything other than a rock star. But then, I became a dad. My son Landon was born on December 24th, 2002, and he changed everything. After Landon was born, I really began to get into fitness. I started running and lifting weights. I had to get active because I had an active son. I was self-taught for the first couple years and worked out on my own — I was hooked.

photo-2About two years after Landon was born, I decided to enroll in the Minnesota School of Business (MSB) Heath and Exercise program. Fitness became my lifestyle and it became clear that it was what I was meant to do. After graduating from MSB, I enrolled in the World Instructor’s Training Schools and obtained my personal training certification, working for Bally’s Total Fitness and Anytime Fitness. My love for the UFC is what really sparked my interest into Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Throughout the years, I have trained at the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy and at the Cellar Fight and Fitness. I have trained in boxing, Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, and Kickboxing. I’m also a big fan of the Warrior Dash obstacle races.

In martial arts, you gphoto (1)ain strength by using and moving your body — it’s a great fitness tool. And, I believe, it’s even more than that because it teaches discipline and self control, plus it’s really fun to do. And, as a trainer, its also fun watching others realize how fun it is, and what a great workout it is. I love watching fights, I love fighting, and I love helping others learn to do it. Most people don’t even know what their bodies are capable of — in fighting, lifting, or fitness (in general), but I get to help them realize those things. And I love it.
